Where is the 'Create Event' button?

Issue: You cannot find the "Create event" button or access event creation options.

Solutions:

  • Verify you've subscribed to one of our pricing plans

  • Use your PC to create new events (this is not available in the Tracking app)

  • Try logging out and logging back in

  • Contact Kwindoo support to check your account accessibility (info@kwindoo.com)


Why does my Android app keep crashing / quitting during races?

Issue: The Android app crashes, closes unexpectedly during tracking.

Solutions:

  • Disable battery optimization for the Kwindoo Tracking app and enable background running (visit dontkillmyapp.com for device-specific instructions)

  • Update to the latest version of the app

  • Keep your phone adequately charged and consider using a power bank for longer races

  • For persistent issues, provide Kwindoo support with:
    • Your phone model

    • Android version

    • Kwindoo app version

    • Screen recordings of the problem if possible

Note: iOS devices generally provide more stable performance, but if any issue occurs, please contact us (info@kwindoo.com).

Why can't I start tracking?

Issue: The app cannot start tracking or doesn't finish loading. Data is also loading infinite.

Solutions:

  • Make sure you use the latest version of the tracking app. You can check this in your Settings, Apps or in the App store. Update the app if needed.
  • If data is still loading, please log out and log in again.
  • For persistent issues, provide Kwindoo support with:
    • Your phone model
    • Android version
    • Kwindoo app version
    • Screen recordings or screenshots of the problem if possible

Why am I disappearing from the live view? Why is my tracking data missing parts of the race?

Issue: Tracking data is missing segments even though Kwindoo should store data during signal outages.

Solutions:

  • Ensure your phone has sufficient battery

  • Avoid using the tracking phone for other activities during races - it depletes the battery much faster

  • For Android users: Verify the app is allowed to run in background processes (see phone’s settings, app settings)

  • For iOS users: Enable precise location services (see phone’s settings, app settings)

  • Consider having a backup phone with another crew member

  • Check your profile settings in the app to see if there are coordinates waiting to upload. They should upload automatically when connection restores, but you can force upload by tapping the button


How can I place virtual marks accurately without GPS on the physical buoys?

Issue: Difficulty positioning virtual marks to match physical buoy locations.

Solutions:

  • Use the Kwindoo Race Committee app to reposition marks while physically at each buoy's location

  • Use GPS coordinates of the boat (you can enter the DD system’s coordinates in the Race Manager, Course editor by clicking on each mark)

  • After the race, use the "Power Editor" to adjust mark positions based on actual boat tracks


Why can't I create multiple races with the same start time?

Issue: System prevents creating multiple races with the same start time, for the same boat classes - this could cause confusion for participants which race to enter

Solutions:

  • Delete duplicate classes from different races

  • Use custom boat classes to differentiate races - ensure participants clearly understand which race to join

  • Note that boats cannot be moved between races once they have entered


Why does the leaderboard show incorrect positions? The distance remaining isn't updating properly!

Issue: Leaderboard displays wrong positions or distance remaining shows 100% even the boat progresses on the course.

Solutions:

  • Verify start/finish line positioning and passing directions are accurate

  • Make the start line in Kwindoo wider and positioned further forward to ensure all boats cross it properly

  • Check mark rounding directions are correctly set

  • Contact Kwindoo support to recalculate race data if necessary

Note: Kwindoo is not an official regatta scoring system and cannot handle handicap calculations. Please do not rely on it for official regatta results.

I clicked 'Export Participants' but nothing downloads. What's wrong?

Issue: Clicking the Participants Export button doesn't download anything.

Solution:

  • Make sure you've selected a specific race from the dropdown list before clicking the Export button


Why can spectators only see their own boat in the app?

Issue: Spectators downloaded the racer app instead of the viewer app and only see themselves.

Solutions:

  • Spectators should download the "Kwindoo Live View" app, not the Tracking app

  • They don't need to register - just click on the event in the Event List

  • Alternatively, use the tracking view website on a PC

  • Organizers should clearly communicate which app to download:
    • "Kwindoo for Racers" (for participants)

    • "Kwindoo Live View for Viewers" (for spectators)
